Peter Gilmore brings 30+ years of expertise in natural gas markets, commercial operations, and asset optimization. He has led gas trading, storage optimization, risk strategy, and pipeline commercial activities across major North American markets, generating multimillion-dollar gains for producers, utilities, power generators, and marketing organizations. As Principal of 024 Energy, he advises and trains leading energy companies on natural gas fundamentals, pipeline flows, volatility drivers, physical and financial hedging, and storage value capture—making him one of the industry’s most trusted natural-gas educators and commercial strategists.

Peter’s foundation in natural gas was built through early commercial roles at Tenneco/El Paso Energy. He managed 3 Bcf of storage, executed pioneering storage-optimization trades, and developed asset-based commercial strategies that generated more than $5.7M in new value. He also opened new Midwest delivery markets, including 140 MMCFD in Chicago-area LDC and industrial sales, demonstrating his capability to uncover transportation value and structure complex commercial solutions.

At Calpine Energy Services, Peter integrated gas trading, basis management, and transportation strategy across NEPOOL, PJM, NYISO, TVA, SOCO, SPP, and Florida to support a 7,500 MW merchant generation fleet. His leadership consistently delivered multi-million-dollar financial gains. These gains include over $40M in Midwest basis in 2009, $3.3M from a capacity auction strategy, and $8M in savings through the renegotiation of a long-term gas-supply agreement after identifying hidden basis exposure. He also designed emissions-credit trading strategies that generated an additional $40M in cash flow for the business.

Today, Peter is known for simplifying complex natural gas market dynamics and helping utilities, generators, and marketers optimize portfolios, enhance hedging structures, and improve commercial decision-making in volatile market environments. His blend of technical understanding, commercial depth, and practical trading experience makes him a highly valuable advisor in an era of increasing fuel volatility and market uncertainty.

Peter holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
