Wes Mailhos is a transportation executive with extensive experience in rail operations, business development, and logistics management. Throughout his career, he has successfully managed complex rail fleet operations, developed strategic transportation solutions, and led site location and development projects across the United States.

As a recognized rail logistics and fuel transportation expert, Wes specializes in strategic growth initiatives and complex site development, bringing deep industry insight to every engagement. He offers strategic guidance on transportation optimization, rail fleet management, rail rates, and supply chain solutions for diesel and renewable diesel, drawing from his extensive experience in the railroad and energy sectors.

Throughout his career, Wes has consistently delivered results by developing and implementing strategic transportation and site development solutions across the fuel and energy sectors. His leadership was instrumental in several critical initiatives, including crude-by-rail implementation and renewable diesel site development, where he successfully balanced growth with profitability.
In his current role as Rail/Business Development Consultant at Pilot Company, Wes guides the rail team in expanding rail capabilities, assists with rail fleet management, rail rates, and rail operations, and is primarily responsible for rail destination development for diesel fuel across the US and renewable diesel sites on the west coast. He manages real estate, contracts, environmental concerns, rail service, and all other aspects related to site location while keeping senior executives updated on development progress.

Previously at Pilot Flying J, Wes was recruited to start the rail operations group, managing all aspects of rail operations and serving as liaison with railroads across the nation. His expertise in diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) supply management helped ensure supply availability and low-cost procurement for a business experiencing 25% year-over-year growth.

At BNSF Railway, Wes served in multiple leadership roles, including Sales Manager UPS, Market Manager Fuels, and Manager Business Development. He managed a portfolio of $150M annual revenue, was responsible for identifying and capitalizing on BNSF’s unique position to handle crude by rail, and led the groundbreaking Fuel By Rail initiative along with numerous other business development programs including biodiesel business development and Canadian petroleum.

Wes holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee with a concentration in Logistics and Transportation and a BS in Finance from the same institution.
