Client: West Coast Inland Port
Introduction
A West Coast inland port engaged our port and rail experts to develop and scale a new FRA-approved revenue-generating service line — launching a track protection and field construction oversight program from concept to full operations while simultaneously assessing bulk and break-bulk rail traffic growth potential.
The Challenge
The port had an opportunity to develop a structured, scalable track protection service and was seeking the operational framework, regulatory approvals, and carrier partnerships needed to bring it to market. No program of this kind had previously existed at the facility.
What We Did
- Launched an FRA-approved track protection and field construction oversight program from concept to full operations in 18 months.
- Expanded the program across twelve states in partnership with two eastern Class I carriers, demonstrating commercial demand and operational reliability at scale.
Results
Revenue growth exceeded 200% in the second year of operations, achieved with zero incidents and zero injuries — validating the program design, field execution model, and safety culture built into launch.
