Client: Three Gulf & Southeast US Port Authorities
Introduction
Three Gulf and Southeast port authorities engaged our port and rail experts to guide transformational infrastructure and commercial initiatives — each requiring long-term strategic direction where none had previously existed.
The Challenge
Each port authority was seeking a structured long-term strategic plan to strengthen their ability to attract private investment, modernize terminal railroad operations, and expand into new cargo segments. Strengthening relationships with state agencies and Class I carriers was critical to repositioning each port as a competitive regional freight hub.
What We Did
- Authored and executed 10-year strategic plans to transform terminal railroads into modern infrastructure enterprises, incorporating comprehensive rebrands and capital investment roadmaps.
- Designed and implemented state economic development grant programs to attract private rail investment to port corridors.
- Revitalized strategic partnerships with state Departments of Transportation, Commerce departments, and Class I carriers.
- Expanded cargo segment coverage to include containerized freight with targeted rail connectivity strategies linking ports to inland markets.
